Jambatu Sacha (Frog Forest)
2026
10 × 7 ft
Yarn, jute, printed fabric, acrylic, acrylic medium

Jambatu Sacha—“frog forest” in Kichwa—draws its energy from Ecuadorian amphibian life and the ecosystems they inhabit, from the Amazon rainforest to highland cloud forests. The work reflects on frogs as both ecological indicators and fragile carriers of balance within these environments.

Informed by research at Wikiri Sapoparque in Quito, Ecuador—a leading conservation center dedicated to the protection, study, and breeding of endangered amphibian species—the piece honors these beings not only as subjects of wonder, but as vital presences within threatened ecological systems. Through layered textile forms, the work becomes a living terrain: vibrant, vulnerable, and interconnected.
